Vintage 1953 The Eagle Comics Dan Dare - SS Eagle - Earth - Mars - Venus Express Tin Plate Rocket Ship With Friction Motor. Released by Mettoy in 1953 as part of their series of Dan Dare toys. This fantastic Tin Plate Dan Dares SS Eagle Earth-Mars-Venus Express Rocket Ship measures 9 inches long, it has a friction powered motor that makes the engine sound when the wheels a turning, and features the Dan Dare logo on one of the wings, Earth-Mars.Venus Express on the other wing, SS Eagle printed above the cockpit with the eagle comics logo, and a printed cockpit window. This SS Eagle is in very good condition over all, which is amazing, especially when you consider that it is now over 65 years old, their are signs of heavy play wear along the body and on the bottom (see photos). Although the motor is still in perfect working order, the item no longer sparks, but does include the plastic canopy although it has come loose, just needs to be re glued into position, but sadly does not include the box which has been lost during the passage of time.
