ITEM DESCRIPTION
Vintage "The Harlesden Series" Draughts (Checkers) Board Game - Complete 30-Piece Set - Made in England
Up for sale is a beautifully preserved, vintage British Draughts set from "The Harlesden Series." This classic set remains in exceptionally clean, collector-grade condition and includes a full complement of 30 pieces.
Key Features & Components:
- 30 Turned-Wood Pieces: Includes 15 natural/cream pieces and 15 black-stained pieces (30 counters total). This larger count provides excellent spares for capping "Kings" during play, or serves as a full 15 vs 15 component set suitable for Backgammon. The pieces feature traditional concentric ridge detailing and fit perfectly inside their original red cardboard storage tray.
- Vibrant Folding Board: A heavy-duty bi-fold cardboard playing board with a striking red, black, and cream checkered pattern. Features a lovely geometric border marked with "The 'Harlesden' Series" and "Made in England."
- Original Protective Insert: Uniquely includes the original translucent glassine/tissue paper overlay used to protect the board graphics when folded. This piece is usually lost or destroyed, highlighting how well this set was cared for.
- Original Box: Comes with its matching red protective slipcase/box.
Condition Report:
Excellent vintage condition. The board colors are bright with minimal surface wear and a sturdy hinge. The wooden pieces are clean with crisp detailing. The boxes are structurally sound with intact corners and sharp, unrubbed silver lettering on the lid.
