Vintage 1930s Grandfather's Whiskers Card Game Waddingtons Complete 52/52 Boxed - Very Good Condition
ITEM DESCRIPTION
Rare Vintage 1930s "Grandfather's Whiskers" Card Game by John Waddington Ltd. – 100% Complete Set!
Up for auction/sale is a wonderfully charming, genuine vintage copy of the classic British parlor game Grandfather's Whiskers, manufactured by the famous John Waddington Ltd. (Leeds & London) during the 1930s.
Billed as "The New Puzzle Game," "3 Games in 1," "A Riot of Fun," and "A Million Laughs," this unique double-ended card set allows players to mix and match heads and bodies to create over a thousand humorous character combinations. The reverse sides of the cards double as six increasingly difficult "jig-type" puzzles.
Set Completeness & Condition:
- 100% Complete Set (52 Cards Total): Features all 48 illustrated gameplay cards (numbered 1 to 48) plus all 4 original green instruction/rule cards. It is highly uncommon to find this game with all four instruction cards fully intact!
- Cards: In good, clean vintage condition with crisp graphics, clear text, and authentic aging. No heavy creases or tears.
- Original Box: Included and features the iconic red, black, and cream Art Deco sunburst design with the original "1/-" (one shilling) price mark on the sides. The box shows standard age-related shelf wear, edge scuffing, and corner softening as expected for a paper item nearing a century old, but it remains completely structurally sound to house the deck.
Please review the photos carefully to judge the exact cosmetic condition for yourself.
This is a fantastic, complete addition for any collector of vintage games, Waddingtons history, or retro British ephemera.
