Vintage 1953 The Eagles Dan Dare Novelty Pocket Watch With Pocket Chain - In Full Working Condition - Ultra Rare Version 2. In 1953 The Eagle Comic commissioned Ingersoll to create a Dan Dare Pocket Watch. The first version was produced and supplied, however the Eagle disapproved of the first version as the words Ingersoll was larger, bolder and more prominent than Dan Dare. However as these watches was already produced, Eagle had to make use of them, but was unimpressed, so a second much small batch quantity of the pocket watch was commissioned on the understanding that the word Ingersoll was removed completely and Dan Dare made bolder. This second batch of Pocket Watches was produced in a much smaller quantity and has therefore become the rarest of the two versions and the most collectable. This pocket watch is one of those second versions with out the Ingersoll printing and features an image of Dan Dare in his space suit with a moving arm as the seconds tick, plus a rotating space ship which is the second hand at the bottom. The watch is 50mms in diameter and has a chrome case with the Eagle logo and name engraved on the back. The watch is operated by a winding mechanism at the top which also adjusts the hands when pressed and turned. A handle is attached to the top top the watch to attach the pocket chain to which will then attach at the other end to your button hole. The watch is in fantastic full working condition and comes complete with the pocket chain. A truly wonderful ultra rare vintage item from over 70 years ago.
