Vintage Collins 1968 Meet Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Large Hardback Book - Very Good Condition. Released by Collins in 1968 during the original hype for the movie. This fantastic Meet Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Hardback Book is a slightly different story than the one we are are familiar with, in this version, its Jeremy and Jemima who buy the car from Mr Coggins using their pocket and lunch money. The have the scrap man transport the car back to their house where Mr Potts starts work on restoring the vehicle. Once the car is ready, the Potts set of for a picnic by the shore, and pick up Truly Scrumptious on the way. However, Mr Potts loses control of Chitty and she heads to the top of a cliff and goes over the edge and falls down towards the ocean. To everyone's surprise Chitty turns into a boat and lands softly on the ocean and sails away, however they are sported by the evil Baron Bomburst from Vulgaria who wants to steal the car. The book is in very good condition over all, which is amazing considering it is now over 56 years old, the front and back covers are nice, clean and bright with only some very minor signs of wear, on the corner edges. The spline is also in very good condition, again with only very minor signs of wear on the top and bottom edges. Internally the book is in very good condition, all 30 pages are present and attached, they are clean and bright without any damage or markings on any page, other than some minor pen marks on page 24, but this does not effect the book in any way.
